Apollux Sketch

Description

FULL VIEW IS REALLY, REALLY BIG! SO WATCH OUT!

Drawing wings in true ratio to the body will do this to an image!

Somebody I know asked to see one of my STRAY HELIX™ original character designs. I explained that most of them are still in the sketch stages, but he was still interested so I've put this one up.

Apollux is a chimeracon - a species with both biological and technological elements, she can shape-shift to a degree too - having a number of alternate forms depending on what kind of environment she has to deal with.

In this phoenix/dragon/hellhound form she has a total of eight limbs - the sketch gets pretty confusing in places where the limbs cross over because I sketch in a kind of X-ray fashion to get proportions accurate.

She's pretty huge too - there's a basic human figure to the left of her to give you a sense of scale.

It might take me a while to finish this drawing - in truth some of my other STRAY HELIX™ original character designs are a little more complete than this. Most of my original characters for this series are bipedal anthropomorphs (animal-like humanoids standing on two legs), Apollux is in a league of her own with the hexapedal (standing on six legs) set up.

Wow! This stuff really makes my artwork seem kinda bad, but hey, I still live in the era of Photoshop and a mouse. :writersblock: I don't think any level of Illustrator knowledge will get me even close to this. Awesome job, man! Keep up the excellent work!
